BlephEx
BlephEx is a treatment we offer in Boots Opticians Romsey, Lymington and Wimborne, in order to combat bacteria build up, exfoliate the skin and remove any debris that may be blocking the opening of your eyelid glands. It is a pencil sized device with a fast, rotating medical grade sponge, which is soaked in specialised eyelid cleaning serum. This is then gently run around the eyelashes and eyelid margin in order to provide a deep clean.
This procedure is typically recommended to those with bacterial or mite based blepharitis, but is often performed in the absence of these signs if we are performing IPL, in order to ensure that the glands aren’t capped by keratin or other debris. For this reason, it is often included in our light therapy bundles.
The result – cleaned eyelids, reducing inflammation and improving on dry eye symptoms caused by bacteria/mites – and all in less than 15 minutes! Eyelid cleaning with BlephEx is comfortable and friendly, with no harsh chemicals or physical abrasion. Our patients describe the sensation as “tickly”, not discomforting in any way.
The treatment can be repeated as often as required. Many patients opt for a regular BlephEx in order to best keep on top of their symptoms, but some may opt for an initial deep clean and then take over maintenance themselves with at home lid hygiene products. We can advise you on any of these aspects, and answer any questions you may have, as apart of your dry eye assessment here with us.
BlephEx is available at our stores in Wimborne, Romsey and Lymington. A treatment with BlephEx costs £75. If you have any questions, or wish to book in for this treatment, please contact us by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.
